Syracuse Basketball vs. St. Bonaventure: 6 Things to Watch
By David Stone
At 7 pm, the Syracuse basketball squad takes on St. Bonaventure in the Carrier Dome. This will be the second game of the season for both teams. Both are coming off 10 point victories in their opening games and looking to build on that success in the early season.
Syracuse comes into this game with a lot of questions on the offensive end. After a lackluster first game against Lehigh, both Dajuan Coleman and Tyler Roberson have questions swirling about how productive they will be this year. There are also lots of nervous fans who feel that the whole “live by the three, die by the three” philosophy this season could be a big mistake.
All I can say is, let’s not jump the gun. It was one game. There is an entire season left to go and no one should have expected Syracuse to come firing out of the gate on all cylinders. There are just too many new parts on this year’s team. Two new offensive starters. Three freshman that will get minutes. A complete change in offensive philosophy from last year. All those things add up to a big-time learning curve.
This game against St. Bonaventure should allow Syracuse to work on some of these grey areas. Again, if you’re expecting perfection, you will be sorely disappointed. But don’t be surprised if there are some changes in the gameplan.
Let’s break down some of what we might expect tonight and going forward. The following are the six things to watch for in the game.
