In a recent interview, 2025 five-star point guard Tyler Jackson from Baltimore named several schools that he says are prioritizing him, including Syracuse basketball.

The 6-foot-3 Jackson, a top-20 national prospect in the junior class per several recruiting services, received a scholarship offer from the Orange coaching staff in late April. He has said on a handful of occasions that he has an interest in taking an official visit to the ‘Cuse at some point in the future.

In the upcoming 2023-24 season, Jackson is competing in the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite. Within this league, he is playing for RWE, and you can track his junior year via the Overtime Elite Web site.

Last year, as a sophomore, Tyler Jackson was named to the Baltimore Catholic League’s All-League second team while starring for the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore. In 2022-23, Saint Frances captured the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (“MIAA”) A Conference title.

Syracuse basketball faces steep competition for 2025 five-star point guard Tyler Jackson.

Besides the Orange, Jackson’s offer sheet includes teams such as Villanova, LSU, Old Dominion, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, California, Kansas, Alabama, Maryland, Illinois, Rutgers, Seton Hall, DePaul, George Mason, Georgia Tech, Rhode Island, Houston, Penn State, UCF, Mississippi State, Arizona State and Wake Forest, among others, according to recruiting services.

In a recent interview with scouting service Pro Insight, when asked about the college squads prioritizing him these days, Jackson mentioned Syracuse basketball, along with Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn, Maryland and LSU, among others.

Not too long ago, when Overtime Elite conducted its Pro Day in Atlanta, the Syracuse basketball coaching staff was in attendance for Tyler Jackson, per national analysts and scouts. Over the summer, in early July, he was a key contributor as the Baltimore-based Team Thrill won the 16U championship in the Under Armour Association league (“UAA”) on the AAU circuit.

In the chat with Pro Insight, Jackson briefly mentioned that he was eyeing visits in late October and into November, potentially to some Southeastern Conference schools, but he didn’t provide more specifics here. Recruiting experts who I’ve talked to in recent months say the Orange is a strong contender to land an official visit from Jackson in the future.

Jackson told Pro Insight that his adjustment to Overtime Elite has gone well, and he’s confident that RWE is poised for a great 2023-24 campaign.

Tyler Jackson, who could emerge as a possible one-and-done prospect in college prior to an NBA career, says he’s focused on playing hard, being a leader, controlling the pace of the game, facilitating for others, and making an impact every time that he steps out on the floor this coming season.
