Syracuse basketball, late last month, offered a scholarship to 2025 four-star shooting guard Dorian Jones from Ohio, and the top-50 national prospect said in a recent interview that he’s “very interested” in the Orange.

The 6-foot-4 Jones is a standout junior at Richmond Heights High School in Richmond Heights, Ohio, near Cleveland. Per a recent article by SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister, as a sophomore in the 2022-23 season, Jones averaged an impressive 20.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.7 blocks per contest.

More recently, Jones earned high marks from high-school hoops experts for his play this spring and summer on the AAU circuit for the 16U team of the Columbus, Ohio-based All Ohio Red in Nike’s EYBL league.

Additionally, this relatively new ‘Cuse recruiting target was a standout at the 2023 Nike Elite 100 Camp, a prestigious event that took place in June.

Syracuse basketball could end up welcoming 2025 four-star guard Dorian Jones on a visit.

Since landing an Orange offer on August 30, per his X page, other new scholarship offers that have arrived for Jones include Southern California, Illinois, LSU and Oklahoma.

Other college squads that have offered him include Houston, Michigan, Rutgers, Missouri, Dayton, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Michigan State, Xavier, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Toledo, Cincinnati, Cleveland State and Arizona State.

The Syracuse basketball coaching staff and Jones only began communicating more recently, but Jones said to McAllister, “I’m very interested in the program.”

McAllister, who is the top recruiting analyst out there covering Orange hoops, wrote that the ‘Cuse coaching staff and Jones will now work to try and get him on the SU campus for a visit “sometime this fall or winter.”

Numerous of the primary recruiting services rate Jones as a top-50 overall player and a top-10 shooting guard across the country in the 2025 class.

ESPN recently updated its national ratings for this cycle, placing Jones at No. 38 nationwide, No. 10 at his position (ESPN lists him as a small forward), and No. 3 in Ohio within his class.

In recent months, Syracuse basketball coaches have proven quite active in doling out scholarship offers to prospects in the junior cycle. When I wrote this story, I counted at least 16 players in the 2025 class who have received an Orange offer.

Besides Jones, other 2025 shooting guards who have been offered by the ‘Cuse include four-star Kiyan Anthony out of Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., and five-star Darryn Peterson with Huntington Expression Prep in Huntington, W.Va.

The Orange offered Anthony last November, while the ‘Cuse coaching staff offered Peterson in late April of this year.
