Syracuse basketball coaches reportedly reached out to 2025 five-star wing Joson Sanon once the contact period for this class opened up in mid-June, according to social media posts.

The 6-foot-6 shooting guard/small forward, a top-20 national prospect, said in an interview last November that he wanted to hear from the Orange. On June 15, college coaches could start initiating direct communication with prospects in the rising-junior cycle.

Per social media posts, Syracuse basketball was among numerous schools to reach out to Sanon once the contact period for the 2025 class opened up. I’d love to see the ‘Cuse offer him a scholarship at some point.

Sanon is a standout for the Vermont Academy, a prep school in Saxtons River, Vt. On the AAU circuit this spring and summer, he has played quite well for the Boston-based Expressions Elite in Nike’s EYBL league.

You can check out some of his latest statistics for EYBL games by clicking here. He has put together some strong performances playing up a division for the 17U group of Expressions Elite in recent days during this year’s Peach Jam at the Riverview Park Activities Center in North Augusta, S.C.

Syracuse basketball has interest in 2025 five-star wing Joson Sanon.

Per social media posts from recruiting analysts and others, lately, Sanon has heard from programs including Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio State, LSU, Providence, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Michigan State, Mike Hopkins-led Washington and the Orange, among others.

According to a review of recruiting services, Sanon’s offer sheet includes Alabama, Boston College, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Marquette, UMass, Nebraska, Providence, Bryant, Washington and 2023 national champion UConn.

All of the primary recruiting services have recently updated their 2025 national rankings, and Sanon is a consensus top-25 overall player, with most recruiting Web sites having him inside the top 20.

When I penned this column, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite placed him as five stars, No. 16 nationwide, No. 2 at small forward and No. 1 in Vermont. On3 has him at No. 15 nationally.

In ESPN’s latest 2025 refresh, Sanon arrived as five stars, No. 14 overall, No. 3 at small forward and No. 1 in Vermont.

By my count, Syracuse basketball coaches have offered at least 11 prospects in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Those targets include four-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony, five-star point guard Jerry Easter II, four-star combo guard Darius Adams, four-star wing Cam Ward, five-star point guard Tyler Jackson, five-star forward Sadiq White, four-star combo guard Derek Dixon and four-star power forward Nikola Bundalo, among others.

I’ll continue to track Sanon’s recruiting process moving forward.
