Syracuse basketball 2024 four-star priority recruit Thomas Sorber from Philadelphia, who reportedly took a visit to former long-time Big East Conference rival Georgetown in recent days, is picking up some analyst buzz as it relates to the Hoyas in his recruitment.

The 6-foot-9 Sorber, a fast-rising center in the junior cycle, was scheduled to visit Georgetown earlier this week, per a tweet from top scout Andrew Slater of Cerebro Sports.

Now Jeff Ermann, who is really plugged into recruiting stuff in the Washington, D.C., market, has logged a prediction in the direction of the Hoyas for the top-70 Sorber on the 247Sports Web site.

As of Friday when I penned this column, this is the first and only analyst projection I’ve come across to date for Thomas Sorber on the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com or the On3 Web site.

Syracuse basketball seems to be recruiting 2024 four-star big man Thomas Sorber hard.

Now, one analyst projection for Sorber doesn’t mean his recruitment is over and that the ‘Cuse is out of contention for him. However, it’s something to monitor as well. For one, new Georgetown head coach Ed Cooley, the former boss at Providence, is doing well on the recruiting trail lately.

As it pertains to the Orange’s recruiting efforts in the 2024 class, Cooley and his staff also recently offered a scholarship to 2024 four-star guard Jalil Bethea, another priority target for Syracuse basketball in the junior cycle.

The 6-foot-4 Bethea and Sorber are teammates on the AAU circuit with the Philadelphia-based Team Final in Nike’s EYBL league. I’ve seen reports in the past noting the possibility of them playing together in college.

In March, ‘Cuse coaches watched both Bethea and Sorber suit up in post-season playoff games for their respective high schools. Bethea is a star for Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in Warminster, Pa., and Sorber stars for Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia.

Sorber is a top-70 national prospect and a top-10 center in the 2024 cycle, per multiple recruiting services. Syracuse basketball coaches offered him in August of 2022, around the time that he competed in the Orange’s annual Elite Camp.

Not too long ago, a media report stated that Sorber wants to take a visit to Syracuse basketball, and I think getting him on the SU campus for an official visit would be pivotal if the ‘Cuse hopes to prevail in his recruitment.

Besides Syracuse basketball, Sorber’s offer sheet includes teams such as Villanova, Xavier, Miami, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Georgetown, Providence, Mississippi State, Richmond, La Salle, Saint Joseph’s, Bryant, George Mason, Drexel and Albany.
