Elijah Moore, a four-star shooting guard in the 2024 class, remains committed to Syracuse basketball following a head-coaching change at the ‘Cuse, according to a media report.

The terrific Chris Carlson over at Syracuse.com recently published a piece stating that the 6-foot-4 Moore doesn’t have any plans to reopen his recruitment after word came out a few days ago that legendary boss Jim Boeheim has retired, and associate head coach Adrian Autry was replacing him after Boeheim’s 47 years at the Orange’s helm.

In late January, Moore verbally committed to Syracuse basketball over other finalists Alabama, Arkansas, Miami and Oklahoma State. He is one of the premier shooters in the junior cycle.

Carlson’s article noted that while Elijah Moore obviously has great respect for Jim Boeheim, Autry and fellow ‘Cuse assistant coach Allen Griffin were most involved in recruiting Moore.

"“I’m still excited,” Moore said to Carlson. “I’m still ready. I’m not worried about what’s going on. Me and Coach Autry have a great relationship. Me and the other coaches have a great relationship. Everyone knows I’m going to Syracuse so it’s no worries.”"

Love hearing this, Elijah!

Four-star shooting guard Elijah Moore remains committed to Syracuse basketball.

Moore is a standout junior at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y. Not too long ago, he was named to the New York state Catholic High School Athletic Association (“CHSAA”) “AA” All-League first team for the 2022-23 campaign.

In late February, he tallied an impressive 31 points, 10 assists and five rebounds as Cardinal Hayes defeated Archbishop Stepinac High School from White Plains, N.Y., by a final count of 85-69 for the New York “AA” Archdiocesan tournament title.

This Sunday afternoon, Cardinal Hayes was slated for a rematch with Archbishop Stepinac in the CHSAA “AA” intersectional finals.

It’s encouraging to hear that Elijah Moore is sticking with Syracuse basketball, despite not having the opportunity to play for a Hall of Fame head coach in Jim Boeheim.

That being said, my sense is that Autry, Griffin and Orange assistant coach Gerry McNamara have been doing the heavy lifting on the recruiting front for a while now.

Moore, by the way, recently moved up to No. 61 overall in updated 2024 national rankings from Rivals.com. When 247Sports refreshed its national ratings for the junior cycle not too long ago, Moore checked in at No. 69 across the country, No. 14 at shooting guard and No. 4 in New York.
