Businessman and top SU booster Adam Weitsman says that his current No. 1 target for name, image and likeness opportunities in the 2024 class is four-star shooting guard Elijah Moore from New York City, who has Syracuse basketball among his finalists.

Weitsman discussed the 6-foot-4 Moore with me in a telephone interview on Wednesday. Weitsman is extremely high on Moore, who is one of the top shooters in the junior class and was offered a scholarship by the Orange in April of last year.

When I asked him why he is so high on Moore, Weitsman didn’t hesitate to say that he believes Moore is the No. 1 shooter in the 2024 cycle.

“He’s a franchise player. A national championship-type player,” Adam Weitsman said of Moore, adding that he admires Moore’s wonderful work ethic, great attitude and an “amazing family.”

Adam Weitsman is quite fond of Syracuse basketball 2024 high-priority recruit Elijah Moore.

While at present Moore is a four-star prospect in the 2024 class, Weitsman thinks that he will attain five-star status sooner rather than later.

I agree with Weitsman, and Moore continues to climb in the national rankings for his cycle.

Multiple primary recruiting services rate Moore as a top-80 national prospect, a top-20 shooting guard and a top-three player in New York state within the 2024 class.

Syracuse basketball coaches got involved with him relatively early on in his recruitment, offering Moore a scholarship last spring. He earned a lot of high praise from analysts and scouts for his performances last spring and summer on the AAU circuit playing for the Bronx, N.Y.-based Wiz Kids in the Adidas league.

He is a standout junior at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y. As college coaches could start initiating direct communication with 2024 prospects in mid-June of 2022, Moore’s recruitment continued to rapidly grow.

His offer sheet has ballooned to around 20, although Moore said via Twitter on Tuesday night that his final five consists of the ‘Cuse, Arkansas, Alabama, Miami and Oklahoma State.

Moore made an unofficial visit to the Hill last August to compete in the Orange’s annual Elite Camp. He then took an official visit to Syracuse basketball this past October.

As it relates to NIL discussions, Weitsman does not discuss the Orange or any other college team with high-school players and their families.

Adam Weitsman has told me that his NIL opportunities will center on non-profit, civic and philanthropic efforts in the 315 and 607 area codes, rather than the marketing of his various businesses.

Regarding his potential NIL discussions with all student-athletes, these players can live anywhere they want and attend any school that they choose.

Weitsman also says that no matter what school players end up attending, he is interested in NIL discussions with them, because they are the kinds of people he would like to represent his charitable endeavors.
