Mega-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson gave a shout-out to Syracuse football player Joshua Black on social media.

Joshua Black, a 6-foot-3, 277-pound defensive lineman for Syracuse football, is exceptionally athletic, particularly for someone of his size.

The other night, he posted one of his ridiculous wall flips on Twitter, with a fun caption that read, “Not perfect yet but still practicing to become @TheRock’s stunt double eventually.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who suited up for Miami in 1991 when the Hurricanes captured the national championship, noticed Black’s achievement and fired back with some high praise.

Johnson, a long-time professional wrestler and one of the most successful actors on the planet, said in his own Tweet, “Wow this is one helluva athlete – and he squats over 700lbs in the Syracuse weight room … You’re on our radar big man. Keep kickin’ ass and despite the Coronavirus challenges, I hope you and the team have a great season.”

That is terrific publicity for Black and the Orange, as Johnson has a whopping 14.6 million followers on Twitter.

The Rock gave some super nice Twitter love to Syracuse football defensive player Joshua Black.

A redshirt senior, Black attended Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Ill., where he was a three-star prospect. Per his bio on cuse.com, he has played both defensive end and tackle throughout his Syracuse career.

In 37 contests over four stanzas, 25 of which are starts, Black has 82 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and two blocked kicks.

So two questions for The Rock. Black squats more than 700 pounds, so can we get a “squats-off” (not sure if that’s an actual word or a phrase, but you get the idea) between him and The Rock?

And, now that Dwayne Johnson has Black on his radar, can we expect to see The Rock inside “the Stadium” at future Orange football battles?

Even if the Carrier Dome, the Dome – whatever it is called these days – is at reduced capacity this fall due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, boy would having The Rock there create a boatload of excitement for the ‘Cuse and its fan base.
