How does one reassess the season after a substandard 3-2 start after such high expectations in the offseason? Cautious optimism.

Things obviously haven’t gone according to plan. Whether that be the record or the injuries this team has suffered. It’s been far from ideal, to say the least.

With that being said, everything is still in front of the Orange. If they win out, not impossible, this team could be 10-2 and actually finish with a better record than 2018.

Some more positive news is Syracuse won’t play a team better than Clemson all season long. The toughest remaining game on the schedule may be undefeated Wake Forest. Firstly Syracuse won’t have to play the Demon Deacons until the final game of the season and on top of that, it’s a home game.

So long story short, every single game on the schedule is legitimately winnable.

Now with that being said, one of the big issues for Syracuse so far this season is their lack of consistency. Even though we’re almost halfway through the season, I have no idea who this Syracuse team is. They’re still a great mystery.

Despite that there’s no evidence to support a crazy run for Syracuse, I’ll buy into Dino Babers that he’ll figure this thing out. I’ll have the Orange finishing the regular season 9-3. Which means they’ll win six of their last seven games (one game we’ll put in there as a potential slip up).

This team has the talent, they just need to figure out what their identity is. If they can do that and buy into it, this Syracuse season can still be pretty special.
