Monk was ole reliable for the Orange throughout his career. Up until 2017 Erv Philips, Art had the most receptions in a single game in Syracuse history with (14). Speaking of receptions, as a sophomore Monk had the fourth best reception season in program history with 41 grabs. Also as a sophomore Monk had the fifth greatest year for an Orange receiver by yardage in 1977 (590).

Monk was one of the most reliable receivers in NFL history. He spent 16 years in the pros with three different ball clubs (Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, and the Washington Redskins). Monk dominated in the pros becoming the first wide receiver in NFL history to reach 900 career receptions.

His overall numbers historically speaking:

  • 20th all-time receiving yardage leader (12,721 yards).
  • 20th all-time receptions list (940).
  • 47th all-time in receiving touchdowns (68).

Art Monk also delivered three Super Bowl championships to the Washington Redskins (Super Bowl 17, Super Bowl 22, and Super Bowl 26).
