Atlantic Coast Conference competition kicks off for the Syracuse football squad this Saturday at noon, when the Orange (2-0) hosts Florida State (1-1) inside the Carrier Dome.

The ‘Cuse offense is on fire so far in the 2018 campaign, with SU crushing Wagner at home this past weekend, 62-10. The week prior, Syracuse went on the road and notched a 55-42 victory at Western Michigan.

The Seminoles, meanwhile, got drubbed in their season-opener by nationally ranked Virginia Tech, 24-3. Then, last Saturday, FSU emerged victorious against Samford, 36-26, after mounting a fourth-quarter comeback. I think it’s safe to say that these aren’t the kind of Seminoles’ performances we normally see from a perennial ACC powerhouse. Still, Florida State is Florida State, and I have no doubt that the Seminoles will give the Orange their best shot in this duel on the Hill, which ESPN is televising.

Let’s not forget that FSU snuck by the ‘Cuse a stanza ago, escaping with a 27-24 conquest. I’m hoping for some revenge when this pair of programs hits the field. The Seminoles have a pretty solid passing attack, which means the Syracuse defense will have its hands full. Odds-makers are currently slotting Florida State as a slight betting favorite, and that’s fine with me. I like when our boys are the underdog, and I like SU to defeat FSU by a final count of 37-31.
