3 + 4 = 7, which means 34 extra points converted for Cole Murphy in 2017

After four up and down seasons in Orange, Cole Murphy is done as SU’s placekicker. In his career he only missed five extra points (95.9% conversion rate) and was 59-of-83 in his career (71.1% conversion rate).

His last season in Orange was the best of his career and that was huge for a guy who had the worst year of his career in 2016. While he wasn’t perfect (what kicker is?), he was a true professional.

Although he was perfect when it mattered most in a critical game on Friday October 13th inside the loud house, Murphy converted his two clutch field goals and gave Syracuse a program changing victory over the No. 2 ranked Clemson Tigers.

He also had another magical game at Miami, where the Orange almost pulled off consecutive top-10 upsets. This time Murphy went four-for-four, but the rest of the team couldn’t help him out. Now though, Murphy’s career is over and SU will have to rely on another leg to get them to where they want to go. Quick shout out to everything that Murphy has done for this program and hopefully we can get a kicker that can bring the same energy and passion that he did.
