Syracuse Football: Top 5 Plays of Week 5 Versus NC State (video highlights)

2. Steve Ishmael Makes Tough Touchdown Catch
Steve Ishmael has been pretty incredible this year. These last two plays, which were the best of the game, just go to show just that.
The Orange were trailing by 16 points with just under five minutes to go. Dungey had just made a huge 22 yard gain earlier in the possession to get the Orange within distance to score. Syracuse Football badly needed the touchdown here and a two-point conversion. The Orange would get both, but first things first.
On this play, Eric Dungey took the snap from the ten yard line. Facing a Third and five, the Orange had to make something of this play. He dropped back and immediately look to his best target Steve Ishmael who was running a post route on the right sideline. Dungey threw a laser straight at him. The ball was a bit high but Ishmael adjusted.
The defender wasn’t prepared to jump making the catch a little easier for Ishmael to haul in. The next challenge though was keeping possession all the way to the ground with the defender all over him. Luckily, for Ishmael and the Orange, he did resulting a touchdown for the Orange.
Dungey would convert the two point conversion to make it a one possession game at 33-25, however the Orange would not get the ball back as the defense couldn’t hold and NC State ran out the clock. Still all-in-all, the nice touchdown catch was tricky, well caught, and big for the Orange to give them a chance in this game.
