Syracuse basketball looks to remain a suitor for 2022 four-star guard Roddy Gayle Jr. as he plans to come out with a list soon.

Syracuse basketball offered a scholarship to 2022 four-star guard Roddy Gayle Jr. last November, and the top-30 prospect in his recruiting cycle according to 247Sports has continued on as a high-priority target for the Orange in this class.

The 6-foot-5 Gayle, a junior at Lewiston-Porter High School in Youngstown, N.Y., which is about a three-hour drive from the ‘Cuse campus, is reportedly coming out with a list of contenders “pretty soon,” per a 247Sports report.

He holds more than 20 offers, according to a review of the primary recruiting services, and hopefully when Gayle reveals a list, Syracuse basketball will make the cut. My gut tells me that the Orange will.

Within Gayle’s bio on the 247Sports Web site, the ‘Cuse is the only school listed as “warm,” which is an encouraging sign, although it guarantees nothing as his recruiting presses forward.

This tweet from mid-August read, “2022 four-star Roddy Gayle Jr. tells me he’s being prioritized by Syracuse, Ohio State, Marquette, & Pittsburgh. Top-30 Prospect.”

Competition is fierce for Syracuse basketball 2022 target Roddy Gayle Jr., a four-star guard.

Kansas is showing interest in Gayle but has yet to offer him a scholarship, according to his bios on Rivals.com and the 247Sports Web site. If the Jayhawks do offer him, watch out for that development.

Besides Syracuse basketball, among those that have offered Gayle are Alabama, Connecticut, DePaul, Georgetown, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Marquette, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rutgers, Seton Hall, TCU, Wake Forest, Xavier, St. John’s, Tennessee, Buffalo, Canisius and Niagara.

While Gayle is currently unranked in the 2022 class per ESPN.com, he is a top-65 player nationally according to other recruiting services. He’s rated as high as No. 29 in this recruiting cycle by 247Sports, along with the No. 1 prospect in the state of New York.

In previous media reports, Gayle has said that the Orange has always proven one of his dream schools. He’s also spoken to the fact that Syracuse basketball 2022 commit Dior Johnson, a five-star point guard, has talked to Gayle about them possibly teaming up on the Hill.

Let’s see what transpires when Gayle comes out with his list in the near future. Nothing is ever for certain in the fickle recruiting world, however, I would imagine that the ‘Cuse will stay in the running for Gayle’s services.

dark. Next. Here’s why Syracuse basketball will have the nation’s No. 1 class in 2022
