It’s almost game time! After what feels like an eternity, Syracuse football is finally back in action tomorrow at 3:30 pm EST. The team will be on the road in Tampa, Florida to take on the University of South Florida Bulls. Syracuse comes into the game with a 3-1 record, while the Bulls are 1-3. Although it may seem like SU should win this game, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves.

For one thing, this is the first road game Syracuse has played this year. They had four straight in the dome, and are the last power 5 team to have a road game. Playing on the road is not always an easy task, and USF is no different. They have a raucous fan base of die hard supporters that definitely gives a big advantage to the home team.

Let’s also not forget that this is an incredibly young team. The starting quarterback is a freshman, the top runningback is a freshman, and our top wide receiver is a sophomore. The only part of the offense with any seniority is the offensive line. All five starters are juniors or seniors. That seniority will be seriously needed for this first road test.

It’s basically the same on defense, where they start two redshirt freshman defensive tackles, two sophomore linebackers, and a slew of sophomores and redshirt freshman in the secondary. The defense is going to really depend upon it’s stars to step up and call out audibles, adjust positioning, and do all the pre-snap reads that are necessary to get defensive stops.

So with all these young players out there seeing time, who are the six guys that will need to really step up and have big games tomorrow?
