In what was somewhat a surprise, Syracuse forward C.J. Fair went undrafted in Thursday night’s NBA Draft.
After completing 17 workouts before the draft, Fair’s stock seemed to be rising, but didn’t result in getting him picked. I expect Fair to play in the summer league and be signed by someone. He is a crafty lefty and a loyal player who is clearly willing to work and not afraid of the best. He is a leader but saw his stick drop this season as the Orange’s number one option.
Fair led the Orange with 16.5 points per game this season and also grabbed 6.4 rebounds per game. These numbers were both down from his junior year, where he scored 17 points and added seven rebounds per outing. He also shot 47 percent from three, but suffered a severe drop from that in his final season with the Orange, shooting just 27 percent from beyond the arc. There are questions about his defense and consistency on offense, but he earned a shot at making the league and will get one. Best of luck to C.J. Fair.
