A lot of good things are going on for both the Syracuse Orange men’s and women’s lacrosse teams as the season is coming to a conclusion and the postseason is starting to pick up.
The men’s team was awarded a two seed in this year’s NCAA tournament after finishing the season with an 11-4 record and as the runner-up of the Atlantic Coast Conference in their first year as a member. The Orange will host the winner of the play-in game between Bryant and Siena on Sunday, May 11th at the Carrier Dome. The game will be on ESPNU. This is the 34th NCAA tournament appearance for the Orange and will look to extend their NCAA-record ten championships to 11.
The women were also ranked a two seed, the highest seeding they have ever received in the tournament after an incredible 18-2 season. The Orange received a first round bye and will play the winner of Towson and Stony Brook on Sunday. There are seven other ACC teams in the 26 team field and this is the seventh time in the last eight seasons that the Orange have made it to the tournament. Also, sophomore Kayla Treanor was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year award by the conference’s coaches. She is the first Orange player to receive an ACC player of the year honor. She led the nation with 102 points this season, the fifth most in a single season for a Syracuse player.
