The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced the finalists for the 2014 John R. Wooden Award, and two Syracuse Orange players made the list.
Freshman Tyler Ennis and senior C.J. Fair both made the list of 15. The award is given to the most outstanding player in college basketball for the season. Jabari Parker of Duke was the only other ACC player to be named to the list. Ennis and Parker are two of four freshmen to be named finalists, along with Kansas’ Andrew Wiggins and Julius Randle of Kentucky.
Ennis and Fair were also named to the midseason watch for the Wooden award, a list of the top 25 contenders that was announced in January. The winner will be announced at the Final Four in North Texas.
Fair leads the Orange in scoring with 16.7 points per game and grabs 6.2 rebounds. Ennis averages 12.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He also leads the ACC in assists (5.6) and steals (2.1).
