Orange Still No. 1 In Both Polls, Keita Practices

There is a lot of good news today if you are a fan of the Syracuse Orange basketball team.

Syracuse remained number one in both the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches’ Poll this week. The Orange, 25-0 (12-0), received 64 of the 65 first-place votes in the AP Poll, the first time in the three weeks they have been in the position they weren’t the unanimous number one. Florida, who moved up to second in this week’s poll, received the other first-place vote.

Wichita State, the only other unbeaten team in college basketball, is ranked third in both polls. The only other ACC teams in both polls are Duke and Virginia. Virginia is 14th in the AP Poll and 13th in the coaches’, while Duke is fifth in the AP and sixth in the coaches’. The Orange face the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday.

In other good news, Orange center Baye Moussa Keita practiced on Monday for the first time since spraining his right knee against Clemson on February 9th. Syracuse.com’s Donna Ditota reports that Keita has been cleared to practice and the senior said he is “functionally ready to play”.

The Orange will play their next game on Wednesday as they host the Boston College Eagles. Tip is at & p.m. ET.
