Jerami Grant suffered a sprained ankle in last night’s Orange win against High Point, but it is not serious and he says he will be able to play against Villanova in the Orange’s next game.
During the second half, Grant was driving to the basket and fell to the ground after landing on a High Point player’s foot. As the play went to the other side, Grant tried to run back on defense but couldn’t, so he rolled to the side of the court for safety. As fans all around Central New York held their breath, Grant got up and walked to the locker room under his own power. He later returned to the bench to watch the rest of the game.
“I tried to run but my leg wasn’t working so I had to slide to the side.” Grant said.
The upcoming game against number eight and unbeaten Villanova isn’t for another eight days, so the sophomore forward has plenty of time to rest and will be ready to face their former conference rival.
