On Friday, the Syracuse Orange got some great news as shooting guard Malachi Richardson, the 12th ranked recruit in the ESPN 60 for the Class of 2015, verbally committed to join the Orange. He was deciding between a number of schools, including Arizona and Indiana.
Richardson is the top ranked recruit in New Jersey and ESPN has him ranked fourth at his position. Originally from Hamilton, New Jersey, Richardson is currently in his junior year at Trenton Catholic Academy. The 6’6″ guard has a lot of length and plays very physical defense, making him a perfect fit for the top of Jim Boeheim’s 2-3 zone. Richardson also likes to shoot and has range from anywhere beyond the arc.
Richardson was in attendance for the Syracuse game against Indiana at the Carrier Dome on December 3rd. The Orange won that game 69-52. Below are highlights from his sophomore season at Trenton Catholic.
