The Syracuse Orange look to win the biggest game of the season today when they take on the Georgetown Hoyas for the final time as Big East opponents. Tip off is set for high noon at the Verizon Center, and the game will be televised on ESPN.
I really think this game speaks for itself. If you told me this game is important for Big East tournament seeding, your lying. If you told me this game is important for NCAA seeding, your lying. If you told me this game is important because Syracuse needs a 12 win Big East season, your lying.
This game doesn’t come anywhere close to staying on the level of being just another game. Syracuse University IS the Big East, and Syracuse-Georgetown is the creme-de-la-crop. If there were ever a game I could trade every aspect of life in exchange for a win, this is it.
If your reading this blog, you have enough passion to know everything there is to know about the Georgetown Hoyas. Otto Porter is the lone name you know about, and is the only person you should know in this game. Porter is without a doubt an All-American in my mind, and is the sole player that can beat the Orange tomorrow.
For Syracuse, you know what you are going to get. CJ Fair is the lone consistent player on this team, and it will take more than that for a Syracuse victory. As inept as the Syracuse offense has looked this season, I really think the team has more than enough talent to pull it together at any point in the remainder of the season, and there is no better time than the present. This rivalry is unmatched in college basketball, and the hatred makes this tied for the premiere rivalry in college basketball with Duke-UNC.
I think that the severity of the situation is something that Brandon Triche steps up to, and is a game that etches his name in Syracuse legacy forever. I believe Triche has a big day, and ruins the Hoya’s run at a Big East Championship as the greatest spoilers in the history of the game.
