What works like clockwork this time of year, the Syracuse lacrosse team had a couple more players drafted from the most successful program in the history of college lacrosse in the latest Major League Lacrosse Draft. The Orange had two players selected, with one going high in the first round:
Syracuse University All-American defenseman Brian Megill was selected in the first round of the Major League Lacrosse college draft on Friday. The Denver Outlaws selected Megill as the No. 7 overall pick.
The Orange’s JoJo Marasco was drafted in the fifth round by the New York Lizards. Marasco, who plays midfield and attack, was a second team All-Big East Conference pick in 2012. He had 31 points and ranked second with the Orange in assists with 19.
Syracuse has had an astounding 42 players drafted in the MLL draft since the year 2001. In each season, the Orange have had at least two players drafted, with as many as seven players drafted in the 2011 draft. In a sport that is rapidly growing, this is absolutely remarkable.
With a lot of hype again heading in to this season, the team has also recently announced that 11 out of Syracuse’s 14 regular season games will be televised, with five of them finding their way to an ESPN platform. From the Syracuse athletics website, here is the television schedule heading in to this season.

The Syracuse lacrosse machine just keep turning. The Orange are one of the favorites again for the national championship, and will have at least another two players drafted again next year, much like the previous twelve years. Our congratulations Brian and JoJo, and hope for their continued success at the next level!
