Syracuse looks to win their 26th consecutive game in the Carrier Dome when they host Long Beach State tonight at 8:00 on ESPN2. The win would be Jim Boeheim’s 897th as a head coach at Syracuse.

This game should be intriguing to see who will begin to make some three point shots aside from James Southerland. Syracuse is shooting very poorly as a team from beyond the arch, shooting just under 30% despite Southerland’s hot touch so far this season. Trevor Cooney saw a couple go down against Eastern Michigan, so it will be interesting to see if he can start to get his shot going in. Brandon Triche has also struggled from three, and will look to get back on track in this game.

The 49ers are led by senior guard/forward James Ennis, who leads the team in scoring at 15.3 points per game. Sophomore guard Mike Caffey also averages a double digit point total with 11.

Long Beach State has not had an easy schedule to date. The 49ers are 3-3 with losses to USC, North Carolina, and Arizona. While they should have a tough time in the Carrier Dome tonight, Long Beach State has the potential to have a solid team this season, and should make a run at the NCAA tournament by the time selection Sunday comes around.
