Former Syracuse star Carmelo Anthony scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a 113-59 olympic exhibition rout of the Dominican Republic in Las Vegas, Nevada last night. Anthony started the game alongside LeBron James, Chris Paul, Tyson Chandler, and Kobe Bryant. Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim is an assistant to Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski on team USA’s staff.

Kevin Durant lead all scorers with 24 points on 9 of 11 shooting, including hitting 5 of 6 three pointers. Despite Anthony starting ahead of him, Durant showed little insecurity when asked if he had a problem with coming off the bench.

“It was cool to come off the bench for the first time. Wherever they need that spark, I’m going to try to come out and give them that spark. So I was looking forward to having different roles playing with USA, so it was kind of fun for me, actually.”

Team USA’s next exhibition is against Brazil on July 16 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
